# Updating your Device

From time to time we release updates with improvements and fixes. To install one, your locomotive needs to connect to a WiFi network with internet, such as your home WiFi.

### Choose your WiFi

Wait for the list of networks to appear, then tap yours. If it doesn’t appear, tap **Rescan**.

### Connect

Enter your WiFi password and tap **Connect**. The page moves on by itself once you’re connected.

### Check for updates

The page shows the **Current** version on your controller and the **Latest** version available. 

If an update is ready, tap **Install Update**. If you see “Already on the latest version”, you’re all set.

If something goes wrong, tap **Try Again**.

### Wait for the install to finish

A progress bar shows how it’s going. This can take a few minutes, your controller will restart by itself when completed.

Don’t switch off or unplug your locomotive/controller during an update. 

If it fails, check your WiFi connection and try again from the Firmware page.
